Weight per 100 ml: The Number That Compares a Titanium Cup to a Kettle

Short answer: seventy-seven single vessels here publish both a weight and a capacity, so grammes per 100 ml can be worked out for each one. The spread is 12.9 to 46.7 - a factor of 3.6 - and the ladder does not follow size.

How do you compare two titanium vessels?

Total weight cannot do it. A 300 ml cup at 86 g sounds heavier than a 450 ml cup at 58 g until you notice it holds a third less. Divide the weight by the capacity and both numbers become comparable: 28.7 g per 100 ml for the smaller cup, 12.9 for the larger, so the smaller one costs more than twice as much metal per millilitre.

Seventy-seven single-vessel SKUs state both figures in the name, which is enough of a sample to rank. The median is 16.9 g per 100 ml. Sets and kits are left out, because their weight field often describes an accessory rather than the vessel.

The density ladder

At the light end sits the 450 ml single-wall cup with a folding handle at 58 g, or 12.9 g per 100 ml. Then the 750 ml single-wall bottle at 109 g, 14.5. Then the 300 ml Sierra cup at 46 g, 15.3.

The middle holds the 600 ml mug at 147 g, 24.5, and the 800 ml kettle at 200 g, 25.0. The top is where the surprises are: the 300 ml conical teapot at 123 g is 41.0 g per 100 ml, and the 630 ml insulated bottle at 294 g is 46.7. A teapot that holds less than half of the bottle weighs nearly as much per millilitre.

Small bodies carry hardware they cannot amortise

That is the whole mechanic. A spout, a lid seat and a heat-safe handle do not shrink with the body, so a small vessel carries the same fittings as a large one and spreads them over less volume. The insulated bottle pays twice: a second wall and the vacuum gap are fixed costs on 630 ml.

The line averages show the same thing at a coarser grain. Tablewares sits at 15.3 g per 100 ml, cups and mugs at 18.7, pots and pans at 23.0 and kettles at 33.6. Two pieces from different lines have no meaningful weight comparison; two pieces measured per 100 ml do.

What to do with the number

Ask for grammes per 100 ml when you are costing a carton, not total weight. It tells you immediately whether a quote is a light body with a heavy fitting or a genuinely thicker wall. On the 450 ml cup the lid alone accounts for 14.2 g, a jump from 58 g to 72.2 g on the same capacity.

MOQ starts at 5 pieces per SKU and mixing lines in one order is normal. Samples ship in 5-10 days and orders leave our Baoji facility within 72 hours. Send the capacity and the closure you have in mind on WhatsApp and we will confirm weight per 100 ml for that body.
