Weight looks like it should track capacity. In titanium drinkware it does not. Two cups from the same factory, in the same grade, differ by 28 g in the wrong direction.
The pair that breaks the assumption
The 300 ml double-wall cup weighs 86 g and sits on a 68 mm base. The 450 ml single-wall cup weighs 58 g. The smaller cup carries 150 ml less and 28 g more.
The pattern repeats below it: a 350 ml double-wall rice bowl is 85 g while a 300 ml single-wall Sierra cup is 46 g. Capacity does not set the number on the scale.
What actually adds the grams
Four things do. A second wall is the biggest: a 300 ml single-wall Sierra cup at 46 g beside a 300 ml double-wall cup at 86 g puts about 40 g on the wall alone. A lid is next - the bare 450 ml cup is 58 g, the lidded version of the same body 72.2 g, so the lid adds roughly 14 g.
Insulation is the largest single jump: a 750 ml single-wall sport bottle is 109 g, while a 630 ml insulated bottle is 294 g - less capacity at about 2.7 times the weight. Set contents move the number too: a 350 ml bowl with a teardrop spoon is 102 g, and adding a 190 mm pair of chopsticks takes it to 112 g; at 450 ml, a bowl with a Korean spoon is 125 g and 140 g with 228 mm chopsticks.
The full spread, in one list
At the light end: a 36 mm key fob at 3.8 g, EDC tweezers at 5 g, a large keychain at 8.5 g, a 140 mm dessert spoon set at 19 g and 235 mm chopsticks at 20 g. Drinkware starts at the 46 g Sierra cup, then 58 g for the 450 ml cup, 72.2 g for the lidded version, 84 g for the 14 oz bottle, 85 g and 86 g for the double-wall bowl and cup, 147 g for the 600 ml mug, and 191 g for a three-piece nesting set at 450, 260 and 120 ml. At the top: a 200 g 800 ml kettle, the 294 g insulated bottle, and a 624 g 2 L micro pressure pot.
Stakes follow the same logic with length instead of construction: 71 g at 300 mm, 93 g at 400 mm.
So quote by construction, not capacity
Ask what the vessel is made of before you ask how much it holds. A single-wall cup against a double-wall cup at the same capacity is a 40 g difference that lands on freight, on the shelf and in the customer's hand - and a three-piece nesting set at 191 g usually beats three separate pieces on both counts.
