The Capacity Ladder: 360 Titanium SKUs, and the Gap in the Middle

Capacity is the first number a buyer scans and the last one anyone maps across a full range. Mapped, it does not look like a ladder. It looks like two clusters with a thin middle - and one line with a real hole in it.

Half the catalogue is not a vessel

Of the 360 SKUs, 179 carry a published capacity. The other half holds nothing by design: cutlery, chopsticks, tent stakes, keychains and E.D.C hardware. There is also nothing at the very small end - no SKU whose own primary size is under 200 ml. The 45 ml tea bowls in the range only ever ship inside a kit alongside a 600 ml serving jug, so they are a component rather than a size you can order on its own.

Where the range is dense

Two bands carry most of the loading. 78 SKUs sit between 350 ml and 550 ml - a single portion of rice, a bowl of soup, a large cup - and 29 more sit between 200 ml and 350 ml for tea, small sides and dessert. Together that is 107 of the 179 vessels sized for one person at one sitting.

Where it goes quiet, and the hole

Above 550 ml the range thins quickly: 18 SKUs at 550-750 ml, 33 at 750 ml to 1.1 L, 9 between 1.1 and 2.5 L, and 12 above 2.5 L.

Two lines break sharply rather than taper. Pots and pans carries 30 SKUs between 350 ml and 550 ml and then nothing at all until 1.1 L - there is no 600 ml, 700 ml or 1 L pot in the catalogue, so the next step up from a portion pan is a batch pot. Kettles is even more concentrated: 23 of its 30 SKUs are the same 800 ml kettle, and the remaining 7 are teapot-size, with no size between roughly 350 ml and 800 ml. Cups and mugs is the only line that runs continuously across the middle, from 200 ml to about 1 L.

Planning around the gap

If your market asks for a shared vessel around 600 to 700 ml, the catalogue answers it with cups and mugs rather than cookware - 18 SKUs sit in that band and all of them are drinking vessels. A 700 ml cooking pot does not exist; the practical choice is a 550 ml portion pan for one or a 1.3 L pot for a table.
