Titanium folding spoon, 15 g and 8.5 cm folded, from LeafCovenant

Folding cutlery answers one problem: a real spoon that disappears into a pocket. Titanium does it at 15 g, folded to 8.5 cm and opening to a full 15 cm reach - here is how the line is put together and what a buyer should stock.

What 15 g and an 8.5 cm fold actually solve

A folding spoon hinges at the neck, so the bowl and the handle meet at roughly half length. Folded, these pieces measure 8.5 cm - short enough to live in a hip belt pocket, a glovebox or a cooler lid, and long enough when open to eat a full meal without your knuckles in the food.

At 15 g the weight is close to nothing. The long-handle spoons in the same range run 12-17 g without folding, so the choice is simple: take the folding piece if it has to travel in a pocket, and the fixed one if it lives in a lunchbox or a drawer at home.

Spoon, spork or a set?

A spoon covers soup, rice and porridge. A spork adds fork tines to the same bowl, so one tool handles noodles and salad as well - the spork is the volume SKU for hikers and travellers because a single piece replaces two.

Sets add a second utensil, or pair a spoon with its case. The hanger case clips straight onto a pack strap; the case-free version ships loose, which is what institutional buyers want when they are issuing hundreds out of a bin rather than selling one at a time.

Finishes and what they signal

Sandblasted and frosted titanium are the working finishes - matte, fingerprint-resistant and forgiving of pack scuffs. Anodized pieces add colour by electrical oxidation rather than paint, so the finish cannot peel: Splendid Blue, Glacier Blue, Frost Gold and a gold-bowl, violet-handle fade that is easy to spot inside a stuffed tent bag.

Everything here is grade 1 titanium (TA1) with no coating to chip and a simple hinge instead of a spring to fail - the practical argument for titanium over an aluminium-and-plastic folding spork.

How to build the range

Open with a natural spork as the volume SKU and a spork with the hanger case for retail hanging. Then add two or three anodized colours - the colour goes onto the same body, so there is no new tooling and a colour can be tested in a small quantity first.

Buyers split into outdoor retail, travel and EDC brands, plus institutional accounts such as clubs, field centres and kitchens that issue cutlery loose rather than boxed. MOQ starts at 5 pieces per SKU, samples ship in 5-10 days, and orders from our Baoji facility leave within 72 hours. Laser engraving and custom packaging are available; send the specification on WhatsApp and we will confirm gauge, fold length and finish before you commit.
